My mother wouldn't dream of calling me on my birth day. It is so entrenched in her belief system that birthdays are the invention of the Devil, that to do something like that might just start her on the path "to loss of faith," and eventual abandonment by God at Armageddon. Wishing me a happy day. But I never dare to call her on her "day". She used to sing a funy version of "happy birthday" to me but that has since stopped as she has gotten more and more involved in the religion since her previous disfellowship.
