Hello Dick and Helen
I am just getting around to reading about your mini-vacation. It sure brought back lots of memories of our second visit with Bob and Darrell.
We also went to Globe, drove through the Salt River Canyon (Bill didn't handle the twists and turns all that well!), Petrified Forest, Painted Desert and Route 66 and Winslow. The pictures were beautiful and your descriptions of each place were wonderful.
It was like taking the trip again myself.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us.

I've lived in Arizona for much of my life and am familiar with the places you visited on your mini-vacation. Still, I loved reading about them in your blog and seeing your photos. It provided me with a mini-vacation of my own, from the comfort of my desk. Thanks for sharing.

Pat is out of town visiting her Dad until Saturday or Sunday so she'll have to view this later. We'd love to duplicate your trip on our next visit to Arizona, but unfortunately we wouldn't have enough time. I guess we'll just have to settle for your beautiful narrative and photos. Thanks for sharing.

Glad to see you exploring! Great travelogue and photos. We know all those places from Turtle travels, but it's taken us years to see what you did. Can't wait to read about your impressions of monsoon in Tucson!

Dick and Helen,

So - you are taking the scenic route back to Tucson! How delightful to have you as a year-rounder! Your blog report reads better than any travel article I have seen. A newspaper, Arizona Daily Star, or an Arizona magazine would do well to publish this. Stay cool and see you when you return.

Dick & Helen,

Wonderful. We had just been talking about taking a similar trip with the kids to see some of these sites. I'd be interested in hearing how we could do it in less than 1300 miles...that sounds like a lot with two kids in the backseat! Maybe we can look at options with a map sometime soon!

Of course then you mentioned 36 hours without wine and pretty much nixed the whole thing. Two kids and no wine. Not sure that is possible!

Thanks so much for sharing!

Dick and Helen,
Thank-you for sharing your wonderful trip with us all. The pictures are beautiful and I'm sure up close it is even more spectacular. You are both missed in the neighborhood and hopefully you'll remember to let us know when you are back in GR. Best Wishes.

Dick & Helen,

It was great fun to 'live' your mini vacation w/you. We have always loved the southwest! Canyon de Chelly & Lake Powell being some of our favorites. You have inspired us to return again. We have rented houseboats a couple of times to explore Lake Powell for a few days. It's wonderful! Maybe we could do that together sometime.

Dean is now getting his Western boots on and he's dripping in his Native American watches and belt buckles. All he needs to do is figure out the proper wine to bring.
