A Book Review
Last night, my wife, Helen, and I had dinner at our daughter Kim’s home. I had expected the highlight of the evening to be the always delicious New York strip steaks that we buy at Costco paired with special vintage 2004 Rosenblum Zinfandel from Sonoma County. Now mind you, the food and wine were as good as it gets. But when my 11-year-old granddaughter, Erika, who is one of 60 sixth-grade students enrolled at the prestigious Grand Rapids Zoo School, told me that she was going to do a book review on my book, Growing Up In Mama’s Club – A Childhood Perspective of Jehovah’s Witnesses, that was the highlight for my day. It seems that Erika told her teacher, Mr. H., about my book and he suggested she do a book review on it. Now that I’ve had time to think about it, if Erika gives me a good review, perhaps, she’ll submit it to the New York Times.
If Erika writes that review, favorable or otherwise, then I say publish it here on your blog. I’m sure that your readers would love to see a truly professional and unbiased critique of your book.
John, thank you for your response. I will make certain that I publish Erika’s response on this Blog.
Well, first of all remember the great State of Georgia, the biggest state East of the Mississippi produces some great wine. The next time we get together maybe we can share a bottle.
Your web-site and blog is very nicely done. I origionally typed in http://www.richardkelly.com and got some photographer’s web-site but now I remember to put in the ‘e’!
I just received the 2nd addition today and noticed the pictures. In my opinion you can never have too many pictures! I will reread the text in the future and see if I can pick out any changes.
I don’t know much about blogs either, so I hope I am putting this text in the correct spot???
Hi to all your family (JW’s excluded) as they don’t like me anymore than they do you. Ha.
Your friend,
Dan Dykstra
‘edition’ in Georgia is spelled ‘addition’ in case you were wondering. (smile)
Dan, what a treat to hear from you. And what’s this foolishness that some people don’t like you, including me? I can’t think of anyone who would choose to use his/her mind that wouldn’t like you. You’d have to belong to some mind control religion that tells you what to think and how to feel to come up with that kind of nonsense. By the way, is JW an acronym for “Just Witless?”
